Cooking the Pasta

Boil the Water
In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

Cook the Spaghetti
Add 8 oz of spaghetti to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

Drain the Pasta
Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander and set aside. Reserve 1 cup of the pasta water.
Cooking the Shrimp

Heat the Olive Oil
In a large skillet over medium heat, add 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Allow it to heat for about 1 minute.

Sauté the Garlic
Add 4 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, until fragrant but not browned.

Cook the Shrimp
Add 1 lb of peeled and deveined shrimp to the skillet. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until the shrimp turn pink and opaque.

Add Lemon Juice and Parsley
Pour in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and add 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley. Stir well to combine.
Combining and Serving

Combine Pasta and Shrimp
Add the drained spaghetti to the skillet with the shrimp. Toss everything together, adding reserved pasta water as needed to create a light sauce.

Plate the sautéed garlic shrimp pasta. Sprinkle with 0.5 cups of grated Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to taste.
