Meatballs

Red Gravy (Marinara)

Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Meatball Mixture

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Meatballs

Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Bake the Meatballs

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned on the outside.

Red Gravy (Marinara)

  1. 4

    Sauté the Aromatics

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.

  3. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Combine and Serve

  1. 7

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Once the meatballs are done baking, carefully add them to the simmering marinara sauce. Let them cook together for an additional 5-10 minutes.

  2. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Serve the meatballs and red gravy hot, garnished with freshly chopped basil and shredded Parmesan cheese.
