Method
Preparation
- 1
Juicing the Lemons
Roll the fresh lemons on a flat surface to release their juices. Cut each lemon in half and use a citrus juicer to extract the juice. Strain the juice to remove seeds and pulp, if desired.
- 2
Dissolving the Sugar
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and the granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves to create a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- 3
Mixing the Lemonade
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the simple syrup (cooled), and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
Serving
- 4
Adding Mint and Ice
If using, add the mint leaves and ice cubes to the pitcher. Stir gently to integrate the mint flavor throughout the lemonade.
- 5
Chilling and Serving
Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes before serving, or serve immediately over ice. Pour into glasses and garnish with additional mint leaves or lemon slices if desired.
