Method

Prepare the Tea Base

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

  2. 2

    Brew Tea

Once the water is boiling, remove the pot from heat and add 8 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on your desired strength.

  3. 3

    Remove Tea Bags

After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags from the pot and discard them.

Sweeten and Flavor (Optional)

  1. 4

    Add Sweetener

If desired, add 1 cup of granulated sugar to the hot tea and stir until completely dissolved. You can also add 1 cup of fresh lemon juice for added flavor.

  2. 5

    Incorporate Flavoring

If using, add 1 cup of fresh mint leaves or peach slices to the tea for an additional flavor boost.

Chill and Serve

  1. 6

    Dilute with Water

Pour in 8 cups of cold water to the brewed tea mixture to dilute and chill it.

  2. 7

    Refrigerate

Transfer the tea to a pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to cool completely.

  3. 8

    Serve

When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes (about 1 cup per glass) and pour the chilled iced tea over the ice. Garnish with extra mint leaves or peach slices if desired.
