Soak the Fries
Place the cut potato strips in a large bowl filled with cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps in achieving a crispier fry.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot or a deep fryer, pour in the vegetable oil and heat it to 350°F (175°C). Use a kitchen thermometer to monitor the temperature for the best frying results.
- 4
Dry the Fries
After soaking, drain the potato strips and pat them dry with paper towels. Removing excess moisture will help prevent the oil from splattering when frying.
- 5
Fry the Potatoes
Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry the fries for about 5-7 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the oil.
- 6
Drain and Season
Transfer the fried potatoes to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Immediately sprinkle salt over the fries while they are still hot, to taste.
- 7
Serve
Once all the fries are cooked and seasoned, serve them hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
