Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Pork

In a large bowl, combine the pork shoulder, minced garlic cloves, lime juice, orange juice, ground cumin, dried oregano, salt, black pepper, and bay leaves. Ensure the pork is well coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best flavor.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Slow Cook the Pork

After marinating, preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Place the marinated pork shoulder in a large roasting pan along with the marinade. Cover tightly with aluminum foil and cook in the preheated oven for about 4-5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.

  2. 3

    Shred the Pork

Once cooked, remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes. Then, use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces.

Serving

  1. 4

    Plate the Dish

Serve the shredded pork on a platter. Garnish with fresh cilantro, chopped onion, and lime wedges. Optionally, serve with rice, black beans, or tortillas on the side.
