Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the steak

Season the flank steak with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Grill the steak

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the marinated flank steak for about 6-8 minutes per side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing.

  3. 3

    Sauté the vegetables

In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced bell peppers and onions, sautéing until they are soft and slightly caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 4

    Make the firecracker sauce

In a small bowl, mix the chipotle sauce with lime juice to create a spicy sauce. Adjust the spice level to your preference.

  5. 5

    Assemble the tortas

Slice the toasted hoagie rolls. Layer the sliced steak, sautéed peppers and onions, and queso fresco inside each roll. Drizzle the firecracker sauce over the filling.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the steak tortas immediately while warm, with extra firecracker sauce on the side if desired.
