Method

Churro Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

In a medium saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Mix in Flour

Once boiling, remove from heat and stir in flour until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Let the dough cool slightly, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract until smooth.

Chocolate Sauce Preparation

  1. 4

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.

  2. 5

    Melt the Chocolate

Remove from heat and add chocolate chips. Let sit for a minute, then stir until smooth. Stir in vanilla extract and set aside.

Frying Churros

  1. 6

    Prepare the Frying Oil

In a large, deep pot, heat vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 7

    Pipe the Dough

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough into the hot oil.

  3. 8

    Fry the Churros

Fry churros until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Coating and Serving

  1. 9

    Coat with Sugar

In a bowl, mix together sugar and cinnamon. Roll the warm churros in the mixture until fully coated.

  2. 10

    Serve

Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
