Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and barley malt extract until smooth.

Add Egg and Milk

Beat in the egg, then stir in the milk and vanilla extract until well combined.

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.

Bake

Pour the batter into a greased baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve

Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and serve.
