Flatbread Base

Method

Flatbread Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Turn out the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

  5. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) while the dough is rising.

Assembling the Flatbread

  1. 6

    Shape the Dough

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two equal portions. Roll each portion out into a flatbread shape about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 7

    Add Sauce

Place the rolled flatbread on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread 1/2 cup of pizza sauce over each flatbread base.

  3. 8

    Add Cheese and Toppings

Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the sauce, then add pepperoni slices. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and fresh basil.

  4. 9

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 12-15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown.

  5. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm.
