Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ginger Syrup

Peel and slice the fresh ginger root into thin pieces. In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, sugar, and 2 cups of water. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Simmer the Syrup

Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the ginger mixture simmer for about 30 minutes. This will allow the flavors of the ginger to infuse into the syrup.

  3. 3

    Strain the Syrup

After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl or pitcher to remove the ginger pieces. Stir in the lemon juice and set aside.

Mixing & Serving

  1. 4

    Combine the Ingredients

In a large pitcher, combine the ginger syrup with 4 cups of club soda. Stir gently to mix, being careful not to lose the carbonation.

  2. 5

    Serve Chilled

Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the ginger ale mixture over the ice. Optionally, garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves before serving.
