Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Garlic Sauce Preparation
- 5
Prepare Garlic Sauce
In a small saucepan, heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil over low heat. Add minced garlic cloves and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Season with salt and black pepper.
Assembling the Flatbread
- 6
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
- 7
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangular or circular shape, about ½ inch thick.
- 8
Add Garlic Sauce
Spread the prepared garlic sauce evenly over the dough.
- 9
Add Toppings
Sprinkle fresh mozzarella cheese over the garlic sauce, followed by halved cherry tomatoes and fresh basil leaves.
- 10
Bake
Transfer the flatbread onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and crispy.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes, slice, and serve warm.
