Sushi Rice

Nigiri

Method

Prepare Sushi Rice

  1. 1

    Rinse and Cook Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Combine the rinsed rice and water in a rice cooker and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

Once cooked, transfer the rice to a large bowl. Mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt in a separate bowl until dissolved, then gently fold this mixture into the rice. Allow to cool to room temperature.

Assemble Nigiri

  1. 3

    Form Rice Balls

Wet your hands with water to prevent sticking. Take a small amount of sushi rice (about 1-2 tablespoons) and mold it into an oval-shaped ball.

  2. 4

    Add Otoro

Slice the Otoro into thin pieces. Place a slice of Otoro over each rice ball, gently pressing it down to adhere.

  3. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Optionally, place a small dot of wasabi on top of the Otoro. Serve with soy sauce and nori strips on the side.
