Method

Ice Cream Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Base

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Chill the Base

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.

Vanilla Ice Cream

  1. 3

    Add Flavoring

Split the vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out the seeds. Add the seeds and the pod to the chilled base. Stir well.

  2. 4

    Churn

Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to a container and freeze.

Chocolate Ice Cream

  1. 5

    Add Cocoa and Chocolate

In a saucepan, heat a portion of the cream to dissolve the cocoa powder. Once dissolved, add the chopped chocolate and stir until melted. Combine this with the ice cream base and mix well.

  2. 6

    Churn

Pour the chocolate mixture into the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to a container and freeze.

Strawberry Sorbet

  1. 7

    Blend Strawberries

In a blender, combine the hulled strawberries, lemon juice, and honey or sugar. Blend until smooth.

  2. 8

    Chill and Freeze

Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze for about 4 hours, stirring every hour until it reaches a sorbet consistency.
