Basic Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Ice

  1. 1

    Fill the Ice Tray

Take your ice cube tray and fill it with water, making sure to leave a little space at the top to prevent overflow as the water expands when it freezes. If you're adding flavor, incorporate fresh fruit, herbs, or juice into each compartment of the tray.

  2. 2

    Freeze the Ice

Carefully place the ice tray in the freezer. Allow the ice to freeze for at least 4 hours, or until solid.

Cutting the Ice

  1. 3

    Remove Ice from Tray

Once the ice is completely frozen, remove the tray from the freezer. To make it easier to release the ice cubes, you can run warm water over the bottom of the tray for a few seconds.

  2. 4

    Cut the Ice

Using a sharp knife or an ice pick, carefully hand-cut the ice cubes into smaller pieces or desired shapes. Exercise caution to avoid injury while handling sharp tools.

Serving the Ice

  1. 5

    Serve or Store

The hand-cut ice is now ready to be used in your beverages or cocktails. If you're not using it immediately, store the cut ice in a sealed container in the freezer to prevent it from melting or absorbing any odors.
