Method

Preparation of Camphor Infusion

1

Infuse the Camphor Leaf

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water with 1 teaspoon of dried camphor leaf. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Allow it to simmer for about 10 minutes to extract the flavor of the camphor.

2

Cool and Strain

After simmering, remove the pan from heat and let the infusion cool. Once cooled, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve to remove the camphor leaves, reserving the liquid.

Mixing the Martini

3

Combine Ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of dry vermouth, and 1 oz of the prepared camphor infusion.

4

Shake Well

Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds to chill the mixture thoroughly.

5

Strain into Glass

Using a cocktail strainer, pour the mixture into a chilled martini glass.

Garnishing

6

Add Garnish

Twist a piece of lemon peel over the drink to release its oils, then drop it into the glass. Finally, add an olive for garnish.
