Steak and Seasoning

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Remove the A5 Wagyu Coulotte Steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes to 1 hour before cooking. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Generously season both sides of the steak with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a heavy skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Carefully place the steak in the hot pan and sear for about 3-4 minutes on the first side, or until a deep brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Baste

Flip the steak and add the unsalted butter and fresh rosemary to the pan. As the butter melts, use a spoon to baste the steak with the melted butter for about another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, it should be around 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest on a cutting board for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice against the grain and serve immediately, enjoying the rich flavor and tenderness of the A5 Wagyu.
