Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preparation

Remove the A5 Wagyu Striploin from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This allows for even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steak

Season both sides of the Wagyu Striploin with sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  3. 3

    Heat the Pan

In a skillet or cast-iron pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers but does not smoke.

  4. 4

    Sear the Steak

Add the Wagyu Striploin to the hot pan. Sear for about 2-3 minutes on one side until a deep brown crust forms.

  5. 5

    Flip and Add Butter

Flip the steak and add the butter to the pan. If using, add the fresh thyme as well. Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, spooning the melted butter over the steak to baste.

  6. 6

    Check for Doneness

Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. For medium-rare, look for 130°F (54°C).

  7. 7

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  8. 8

    Serve

Slice the steak against the grain and serve immediately, optionally garnished with fresh thyme.
