Pizza Dough and Toppings
Method
Preparation and Baking
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy. Then, add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead and Rise
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 3
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat as well.
- 4
Shape the Dough
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into two portions. Roll one portion out on a floured surface into your desired pizza shape.
- 5
Add Toppings
Spread tomato sauce evenly over the base. For the Fiorentina, add spinach and ricotta; for Margherita, add sliced mozzarella and basil; for Pepperoni, layer pepperoni slices; for Vegetali, scatter mixed vegetables; and for Formaggio, sprinkle grated Parmesan.
- 6
Bake
Transfer the pizza to the oven (or heated pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- 7
Serve
Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, slice, and serve hot.
