Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Caramelized Onions

  1. 1

    Caramelize the Onions

Slice the onion and cook in a skillet over medium heat with a bit of oil, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and soft (about 15-20 minutes).

Cook the Bacon

  1. 2

    Cook the Maple Bourbon Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Drain on paper towels and set aside.

Make the Burger Patties

  1. 3

    Form and Cook the Patties

Divide the ground beef into two equal portions. Form into balls and season with salt and pepper. Heat a skillet over high heat and smash the patties down with a spatula. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, then flip and add cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 4

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns if desired. On the bottom bun, layer lettuce, tomato (sliced), the burger patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, maple bourbon bacon, and a dollop of garlic aioli. Top with the other half of the bun and serve.
