Hot Chocolate

Method

Prepare the Espresso

  1. 1

    Brew the Espresso

In an espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker, add 2 tablespoons of espresso coffee grounds to the filter basket. Fill the water reservoir with 100 ml of water. Brew the espresso according to your machine’s instructions.

Make the Hot Chocolate

  1. 2

    Heat the Milk

In a small saucepan, heat 200 ml of milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling. Stir occasionally to prevent scorching.

  2. 3

    Mix Cocoa and Sugar

In a separate bowl, combine 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Add a splash of the hot milk to the bowl and whisk until smooth.

  3. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the cocoa and sugar mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining hot milk. Stir well to combine. Add 0.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract and mix thoroughly.

Combine and Serve

  1. 5

    Mix Espresso and Hot Chocolate

In a large mug, pour the brewed espresso and then add the prepared hot chocolate. Stir gently to combine.

  2. 6

    Garnish

Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with chocolate shavings to taste.
