Preparation of Cheese Base

Soften the Cream Cheese
In a medium mixing bowl, allow the cream cheese to sit at room temperature for about 15 minutes until softened.

Combine Cheese Ingredients
Add the shredded cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, and milk to the softened cream cheese. Mix until fully combined and smooth.

In a separate bowl, combine the canned diced tomatoes with green chiles, chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Combining and Heating

Combine Both Mixtures
Add the chili mixture to the cheese base. Stir until the mixture is well combined and evenly distributed.

Heat the Mixture
Transfer the combined mixture to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the dip is heated through.
Serving

If desired, garnish the chili con queso with chopped fresh cilantro and sliced jalapeños before serving.
