Preparing the Base

Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt until well combined.

Add Eggs and Vanilla
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

Pour into Pan
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Preparing the Topping

Prepare the Cherries
In a bowl, combine the pitted cherries with brown sugar and cinnamon. Toss to coat the cherries evenly.

Add to Batter
Scatter the cherry mixture over the top of the batter in the baking pan.

Drizzle with Butter
Drizzle the melted butter over the cherry topping.
Baking

Bake the Cape d'Or
Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool and Serve
Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before slicing into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
