Shrimp and Coating

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

Rinse the peeled and deveined shrimp under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Station

In three separate bowls, place the all-purpose flour in the first bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together in the second bowl, and place the bread crumbs in the third bowl. Add salt, black pepper, and paprika to the flour and mix well.

Breading

  1. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp first into the flour mixture, ensuring it is coated evenly. Shake off any excess flour, then dip it into the egg wash, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the shrimp in bread crumbs, pressing lightly to ensure they adhere. Repeat for all shrimp.

Frying

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the temperature by dropping a small piece of bread into the oil; it should sizzle and brown quickly.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve the Fried Shrimp

Serve the fried shrimp hot with your choice of dipping sauces, such as cocktail sauce or tartar sauce.
