Jalapeño Poppers

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Jalapeños

Cut the jalapeños in half lengthwise and remove the seeds and membranes for less heat. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Filling

In a bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, bacon bits, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Stuff the Jalapeños

Fill each jalapeño half with the cheese mixture, packing it in tightly.

Breading and Frying

  1. 4

    Prepare for Breading

In a shallow dish, beat the egg. In another dish, place the bread crumbs.

  2. 5

    Bread the Jalapeños

Dip each stuffed jalapeño first into the beaten egg, then roll it in the bread crumbs until fully coated.

  3. 6

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until hot.

  4. 7

    Fry the Poppers

Carefully place the breaded jalapeños in the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
