Method

Preparation of Chicken

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Flatten the chicken breasts to an even thickness using a meat mallet or rolling pin, then season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Coat the Chicken

Set up a breading station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second dish, and combine the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese in a third dish. Dredge each chicken breast first in flour, shaking off excess, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb and cheese mixture.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 3

    Fry the Chicken

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches.

  2. 4

    Transfer to Baking Dish

Once cooked, transfer the chicken breasts to a baking dish.

Assembling and Baking

  1. 5

    Add Sauce and Cheese

Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken breasts in the baking dish. Top each piece with shredded mozzarella cheese and sprinkle with fresh basil leaves.

  2. 6

    Bake the Chicken Parmesan

Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  3. 7

    Serve

Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with additional basil if desired.
