Churro Dough

Method

Prepare Churro Dough

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, and 1 teaspoon of salt. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Flour

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Let the dough cool for a few minutes, then add 2 large eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Heat Oil

  1. 4

    Prepare for Frying

In a large, deep pot, heat 4 cups of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Pipe and Fry Churros

  1. 5

    Pipe Churros

Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip. Pipe 4-6 inch long strips of dough into the hot oil, cutting them off with scissors.

  2. 6

    Fry Churros

Fry the churros for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown. Remove them with a slotted spoon and let them drain on paper towels.

Coat Churros

  1. 7

    Prepare Coating

In a shallow dish, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon.

  2. 8

    Coat Fried Churros

While the churros are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until fully coated.

Serve

  1. 9

    Enjoy!

Serve the churros warm with a side of chocolate sauce or dulce de leche for dipping.
