Method
Cheese Preparation
- 1
Cut the Mozzarella
Slice the mozzarella cheese into sticks, approximately 1/2 inch thick and 4 inches long. Place them on a plate or tray.
- 2
Freeze the Cheese
Transfer the mozzarella sticks to the freezer and allow them to freeze for at least 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape during frying.
Breading Mixture
- 3
Prepare the Breading Stations
Set up three shallow dishes. In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, beat the eggs until well combined. In the third dish, combine the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
- 4
Bread the Cheese Sticks
Take each frozen mozzarella stick and first coat it in the flour, shaking off any excess. Then dip it into the beaten eggs, ensuring it is fully coated. Finally, roll it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat with all cheese sticks.
Frying
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C) over medium-high heat. Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature.
- 6
Fry the Mozzarella Sticks
Carefully add the breaded mozzarella sticks to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Dipping Sauce
- 7
Serve with Marinara Sauce
While the mozzarella sticks are frying, warm the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over low heat. Serve the hot mozzarella sticks with the marinara sauce for dipping.
