Shrimp Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Shrimp

In a large bowl, combine the jumbo shrimp, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Toss to coat the shrimp evenly. Cover and let marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Breading

  1. 2

    Prepare the Breading Station

Set up a breading station with three shallow dishes. In the first dish, add the all-purpose flour. In the second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk until well combined. In the third dish, mix the panko breadcrumbs, paprika, and cayenne pepper.

  2. 3

    Bread the Shrimp

Remove the marinated shrimp from the refrigerator. Dredge each shrimp in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip into the egg mixture, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat in the panko breadcrumb mixture. Place the breaded shrimp on a plate.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat Oil

In a large, deep skillet or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping in a small piece of bread; it should sizzle and turn golden brown.

  2. 5

    Fry the Shrimp

Carefully add the breaded shrimp to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  3. 6

    Serve

Serve the fried jumbo shrimp hot with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the shrimp.
