Prepare the Ingredients
Peel the turmeric and ginger roots, then chop them into small pieces. Measure out the lemon juice and set aside.

Boil the Water
In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium-high heat.

Add Turmeric and Ginger
Once the water reaches a boil, add the chopped turmeric and ginger. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

Strain the Mixture
After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat. Use a fine strainer to strain the mixture into a large bowl or pitcher, discarding the solids.

Add Lemon and Black Pepper
Stir in the lemon juice and freshly ground black pepper to the strained liquid.

Sweeten (Optional)
If desired, add honey or maple syrup to sweeten the tonic, stirring until fully dissolved.
Serving

You can serve the turmeric tonic warm or chill it in the refrigerator for a refreshing drink. Serve in glasses and enjoy!
