Method
Waffle
- 1
Prepare the Waffle Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the Pan de Bono dough, milk, eggs, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, and melted butter. Mix until you have a smooth batter.
- 2
Cook the Waffles
Preheat your waffle iron. Pour the batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until the waffles are golden brown and crispy. Set aside.
Fried Chicken
- 3
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the chicken thighs and buttermilk. Allow to marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight in the refrigerator.
- 4
Prepare the Breading
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.
- 5
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the seasoned flour mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Chicken
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the breaded chicken pieces and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Ají Dulce Honey Hot Sauce
- 7
Make the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the minced ají dulce peppers, honey, and lime juice. Stir well to combine. Adjust the sweetness or heat by adding more honey or ají dulce to taste.
Tropical Fruit
- 8
Prepare the Fruit
Dice the pineapple and mango, and slice the kiwi. Combine all the prepared tropical fruits in a bowl for serving.
