Prepare Coffee Mixture

Brew Espresso
Brew 2 cups of strong espresso coffee and let it cool to room temperature.

If using coffee liqueur, mix it with the cooled espresso.
Prepare Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a bowl, whisk together 3 large egg yolks and 3 tablespoons of granulated sugar until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Combine Mascarpone and Egg Mixture
Add 1 cup of mascarpone cheese and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract to the egg mixture, and gently fold until well combined.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assemble Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger cookie briefly in the coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

First Layer
Layer half of the soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9x9 inch dish.

Add Mascarpone Mixture
Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of ladyfingers.

Second Layer
Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight to set.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
