Method

Preparation of Topping

  1. 1

    Mix the Topping

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the diced fresh tomatoes, chopped basil leaves, minced garlic, balsamic vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Gently toss to mix everything together. Let it sit for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Preparing the Bread

  1. 2

    Slice the Bread

Slice the baguette or ciabatta loaf into 1/2-inch thick slices.

  2. 3

    Grill the Bread

Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat. Brush both sides of the bread slices with olive oil. Grill the slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and have grill marks.

Assembling the Bruschetta

  1. 4

    Top the Bread

Once the bread is grilled, remove it from the grill. Spoon the tomato mixture evenly over each slice of grilled bread.

  2. 5

    Serve

Serve the bruschetta immediately while the bread is still warm. Optionally, drizzle with more olive oil or balsamic vinegar before serving.
