Fried Calamari
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
Marinate
Place the calamari rings in a bowl and add buttermilk. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Mix the Coating
In a separate bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge the rings in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 6
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, frying for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried calamari hot with cocktail sauce on the side.
