Crust Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Cookie Crust
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a food processor, crush the chocolate wafer cookies into fine crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to a mixing bowl.
- 2
Mix with Butter
Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave or on the stovetop. Pour the melted butter over the cookie crumbs and mix until well combined. The mixture should resemble wet sand.
- 3
Form the Crust
Press the cookie mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan to form an even crust. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let cool completely.
Assemble the Mud Pie
- 4
Add Ice Cream
Once the crust has cooled, remove the coffee-flavored ice cream from the freezer and let it sit for a few minutes to soften slightly. Spoon the ice cream into the cooled crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- 5
Freeze
Cover the pie with plastic wrap and place it back in the freezer to harden for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
Serve the Mud Pie
- 6
Add Toppings
Before serving, drizzle the chocolate fudge sauce over the top of the pie. Add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top and sprinkle with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
- 7
Slice and Serve
Slice the mud pie into wedges and serve immediately, enjoying the rich flavors of coffee and chocolate.
