Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Grits

In a medium pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Slowly whisk in 1 cup of grits and reduce heat to low. Cook for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 2

    Cook the Mushrooms

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add sliced mushrooms and sauté until browned and tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove mushrooms from the skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

Make the Spicy Creole Garlic Butter

In the same skillet, add the remaining butter. Once melted, add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in Cajun seasoning, hot sauce, and lemon juice. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes, or until they turn pink and opaque. Return the sautéed mushrooms to the skillet and mix until well combined. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Serve

Spoon the cooked grits onto plates and top with the Nola BBQ shrimp mixture. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
