Fried Chicken Ingredients
Method
Preparation Directions
- 1
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken pieces and ensure they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- 2
Prepare the Flour Mixture
In a separate bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Set aside.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large, deep skillet or Dutch oven, pour in the vegetable oil and heat over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Coat and Fry the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture until fully coated. Carefully place the chicken in the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry each piece for about 12-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through.
- 5
Drain and Rest
Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Let it rest for about 5 minutes before serving.
