Method
Crab Dip
- 1
Preheat and prepare
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). If using an ovenproof shallow baking dish (about 1 to 1.5 quart), lightly grease it with a little olive oil or nonstick spray.
- 2
Combine base
In a medium mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Stir in sour cream, mayonnaise, Parmesan, and Monterey Jack (or mozzarella) until combined and creamy.
- 3
Season and flavor
Add minced garlic, green onions, Old Bay seasoning, lemon juice, Worcestershire, hot sauce (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly so the seasoning is evenly distributed.
- 4
Fold in crab
Gently fold the lump crab meat into the mixture, taking care not to break up the lumps too much. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding up to 1/2 teaspoon more Old Bay or a pinch more salt if needed. Fold in 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley.
- 5
Transfer and top
Spoon the crab mixture into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining tablespoon of parsley over the surface. If using, evenly sprinkle shredded cheddar on top for a golden crust.
- 6
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 18–22 minutes, until hot and bubbling and the top is lightly golden. If you used cheese on top and want a more browned finish, broil on high for 1–2 minutes—watch carefully to avoid burning.
- 7
Finish
Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes. Drizzle a tiny bit of lemon juice over the top if desired and garnish with additional chopped parsley. Serve warm.
Crostini
- 8
Prepare slices
Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil and sprinkle with coarse salt.
- 9
Toast
Toast in the oven alongside the dip for 6–8 minutes, flipping once, until crisp and golden. Alternatively, broil 1–2 minutes per side—watch closely.
- 10
Serve
Allow crostini to cool slightly. Serve warm or at room temperature alongside the baked crab dip for scooping.
