Method
Sparkling Water
- 1
Chill the bottle
Place the San Pellegrino bottle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving so it is well chilled (ideally 38–45°F / 3–7°C). Chilled sparkling water retains carbonation better and is more refreshing.
- 2
Prepare the glass
If you prefer an extra-cold drink, fill the glass with ice cubes and let sit 30 seconds to chill the glass, then discard excess water from melted ice. Alternatively, use a pre-chilled glass from the freezer or refrigerator.
- 3
Open the bottle
Hold the bottle upright on a stable surface. Unscrew or pop off the cap slowly to control the release of carbonation and avoid foaming over. If the bottle is very cold and has been shaken, open more slowly until fizz settles.
- 4
Pour
Tilt the glass at a 45° angle and pour the sparkling water gently down the side to preserve bubbles. Fill the glass, leaving about 1 inch (2–3 cm) at the top to avoid spillage and maintain effervescence.
Garnish (optional)
- 5
If using a lemon wedge, run the wedge around the rim of the glass, then drop it into the drink or balance it on the rim. For a mint sprig, gently clap it between your palms to release aromatics and place it in the glass. These garnishes are optional and should not overpower the clean mineral character of the water.
Serve
- 6
Serve immediately while the water is cold and highly carbonated. Provide a straw or stirrer if desired. Re-cap the bottle and refrigerate any remaining water to preserve carbonation.
