Method

Preparation of Egg Mixture

  1. 1

    Prepare the Egg Mixture

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them until they are well beaten. Add the milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar to the eggs. Whisk the mixture until all ingredients are fully combined and smooth. Set aside.

Dipping and Cooking

  1. 2

    Dip the Bread

Take each slice of sourdough bread and dip it into the egg mixture. Ensure that both sides of the bread are coated, but do not soak them for too long to prevent sogginess.

  2. 3

    Cook the French Toast

In a skillet or frying pan, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Once melted, place the dipped bread slices onto the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on one side, or until golden brown, then flip and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes on the other side. Repeat with the remaining slices, adding more butter as needed.

Serving

  1. 4

    Serve the French Toast

Once the French toast is cooked to a golden brown, remove it from the skillet and place it on a plate. Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with maple syrup to taste. Serve immediately.
