Method

Crust Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the chilled, diced butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Ice Water

Gradually add the ice water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until the dough comes together without being sticky.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit a 9-inch pie pan. Carefully place the dough into the pan, pressing it evenly along the bottom and up the sides.

  5. 5

    Pre-bake the Crust

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Prick the bottom of the crust with a fork and pre-bake for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.

Filling Preparation

  1. 6

    Mix the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the corn syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until well combined.

  2. 7

    Add Eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the mixture is smooth.

  3. 8

    Stir in Pecans

Fold in the chopped pecans until evenly distributed.

  4. 9

    Pour Filling into Crust

Pour the pecan filling into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading it evenly.

  5. 10

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown. Let cool completely before serving.
