Chicken and Coating

Toppings

Method

Preparing the Chicken

  1. 1

    Marinate Chicken

In a bowl, combine buttermilk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare Coating

In another bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, salt, and black pepper. This will be used for coating the chicken.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 3

    Heat Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 4

    Coat Chicken

Remove the chicken from the marinade and let the excess liquid drip off. Dredge each chicken breast in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated.

  3. 5

    Fry Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken breasts in the hot oil. Fry for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should be 165°F or 75°C).

  4. 6

    Drain Chicken

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 7

    Cook Bacon

In a separate skillet, cook the bacon slices over medium heat until crispy. Remove and place on paper towels to drain.

  2. 8

    Melt Cheese

In the last minute of cooking the chicken, place a slice of American cheese on each chicken breast and cover the skillet with a lid to help melt the cheese.

  3. 9

    Prepare Buns

Toast the burger buns on a grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  4. 10

    Assemble Sandwich

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Layer with lettuce, the crispy chicken with melted cheese, bacon, sliced tomato, and drizzle with BBQ sauce. Top with the other half of the bun.
