Method

Prepare the Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Use your hands to mix the ingredients until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to keep the patties juicy.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cook the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the cooked patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired. Top with the other half of the bun.
