Chicken Tenders
Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
Method
Preparing the Chicken Tenders
- 1
Step 1: Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well. Cut the chicken breasts into strips and add them to the buttermilk mixture. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight for best results.
- 2
Step 2: Prepare the Breading
In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. This will be your breading mixture.
- 3
Step 3: Heat the Oil
In a large heavy-bottomed pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Step 4: Bread the Chicken
Remove the marinated chicken tenders from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour and cornstarch mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- 5
Step 5: Fry the Chicken
Carefully place the breaded chicken tenders in the hot oil. Fry in batches if necessary, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Cook for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a meat thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- 6
Step 6: Drain and Serve
Remove the cooked chicken tenders from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot.
