Filet Mignon

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Method

Filet Mignon

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steaks

Take the filet mignon steaks out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 30 minutes. This ensures even cooking.

  2. 2

    Season the Steaks

Rub the steaks with olive oil, then sprinkle both sides with salt, black pepper, and fresh rosemary.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, approximately 450°F (232°C).

  4. 4

    Grill the Steaks

Place the steaks on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until they reach your desired doneness.

  5. 5

    Rest the Steaks

Remove the steaks from the grill and let them rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

  1. 6

    Prepare the Potatoes

Peel and chop the russet potatoes into quarters for even cooking.

  2. 7

    Boil the Potatoes

Place the chopped potatoes in a large pot, cover with water, and bring to a boil. Cook for about 15-20 minutes or until tender.

  3. 8

    Cook the Garlic

In the last 10 minutes of boiling, add the garlic cloves to the pot to soften them.

  4. 9

    Drain and Mash

Once the potatoes and garlic are tender, drain them and return to the pot. Mash with a potato masher until smooth.

  5. 10

    Add Butter and Milk

Mix in the butter and milk until creamy. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  6. 11

    Serve

Spoon the garlic mashed potatoes onto plates and serve alongside the grilled filet mignon.
