Base

Method

Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Prepare baking pan

Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  3. 3

    Mix dry ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  4. 4

    Combine wet ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

  5. 5

    Combine mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  7. 7

    Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting

  1. 8

    Prepare frosting

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy.

  2. 9

    Combine dry ingredients

Gradually add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder, mixing until combined.

  3. 10

    Add milk and vanilla

Add in the milk and vanilla extract, then beat until smooth and fluffy. Adjust with more milk if needed for desired consistency.

  4. 11

    Frost the cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top using a spatula.
