Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the granulated sugar, beating until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  5. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.

  6. 6

    Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Soaking the Cake

  1. 7

    Prepare Milk Mixture

In a medium bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk until well combined.

  2. 8

    Soak the Cake

Once the cake is baked and slightly cooled, use a fork to poke holes all over the top. Pour the milk mixture evenly over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  3. 9

    Chill the Cake

Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Topping Preparation

  1. 10

    Whip Cream

In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.

  2. 11

    Frost the Cake

Spread the whipped cream over the top of the chilled cake. Decorate with fresh berries if desired.
