Dough

Garlic Butter

Method

Prepare the Dough

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Create a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture along with the olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Mix the ingredients until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Prepare Garlic Butter

  1. 5

    Melt Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Parsley and Salt

Stir in chopped parsley and salt, mixing well. Remove from heat and set aside.

Shape and Bake Knots

  1. 7

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 8

    Shape Knots

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 12 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope about 6 inches long and tie into a knot.

  3. 9

    Coat with Garlic Butter

Place the knots on the prepared baking sheet. Brush them generously with the garlic butter mixture.

  4. 10

    Add Cheese

Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top of each knot.

  5. 11

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve

  1. 12

    Prepare Toppings

Serve the garlic knots warm with sides of tomato sauce, pistachio pesto, and garlic ricotta for dipping.
