Cake Ingredients

Method

Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it’s ready for the batter.

2

Prepare Ramekins

Grease four 6-ounce ramekins with butter and dust them lightly with cocoa powder to prevent sticking. Place them on a baking sheet.

Making the Batter

3

Melt Butter and Chocolate

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each, until completely melted and smooth.

4

Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, large eggs, large egg yolks, and vanilla extract until well combined and slightly frothy.

5

Combine Mixtures

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture and stir until just combined.

6

Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour and salt. Gently fold the mixture until there are no visible flour streaks. Be careful not to overmix.

Baking

7

Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

8

Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is still soft. Do not overbake.

Serving

9

Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let sit for 1 minute. Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Serve warm, optionally with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
