Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Rigatoni

Once the water is boiling, add the rigatoni and cook according to package directions until al dente, about 10-12 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the rigatoni in a colander and set aside.

Making Bolognese Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté Vegetables

In a large skillet or saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, celery, and garlic. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes.

  2. 5

    Brown the Meat

Add the ground beef and sweet Italian sausage to the skillet. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned, about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 6

    Add Marinara and Seasonings

Stir in the marinara sauce, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 7

    Add Cream and Pesto

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and pesto. Allow to simmer for an additional 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 8

    Combine Sauce with Pasta

Add the drained rigatoni to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.

  6. 9

    Serve with Cheese

Serve hot, topped with grated Grana Padano cheese.
